COLOUR FOCUS: GKMBJ Red Velvet Formula
GKMBJ colour before and after shots were created at the Hairdresser's Co-Op Technical Studio on a training day that was conducted by our GKMBJ Colour Specialist, Lana Batty.
The client’s before shot had a few different colours in it and as a result we wanted to achieve a nice solid base rich colour with highlights on the front side of the hair to infuse the base of the colour and give character to the style of the textured artistic hair cut.
The formula for the base colour were from our range of GKMBJ colours. To begin, Lana sectioned the front side of the hair so the foils could sit under the base of the colour. She spliced the foils with two different colours so the highlights could be of two contrasting colours to suit the base of the colour achieved, the first foil being a blonde foil. This client had a faded brassy blonde so in order to create a clean looking blonde, she foiled over the brassy blonde.
The formula for the blonde highlight used was 10 grams of straight silver concentrate as a colour instead of a additive + equal parts 10 grams of 10 vol + 5 grams of spa equaliser to even out porosity levels for better colour and conditioning effects. This achieved a nice cleaner blonde highlight.
This client also had a faded violet red colour on the side of the hair so in order to enhance this colour she foiled out the faded violet pieces to refresh the colour. The formula for the second highlight was 10 grams of 5.56 + 10 grams of magenta enhancer + 20 grams of 10 vol + 10 grams of clear concentrate with no added peroxide to lighten the content of the Colour she also added 5 grams of spa equaliser cream.
After Lana foiled the front pieces of the hair, she then applied the base colour in between the foils.
The base colour I mixed for this client was 20 grams of 4 n + 20 grams of 4.22 + equal parts of peroxide 40 grams of 10 Vol + 10 grams of violet mix was added as a concentrate with no added peroxide to the colour for a violet intense depth base.
Lana also added 5 grams of spa equaliser cream to assist to even out porosity levels for better colouring and conditioning effects and to assist with any scalp sensitivity.
The processing time of the colour was 30 minutes. The hair was then rinsed with GKMBJ’s Colour Lock Shampoo and Conditioner to preserve colour pigmentation.
GKMBJ’s Colour Lock Shampoo and Conditioner is highly recommended for home care to achieve moisture and to give colour retention like never before seen in fashion hair colouring.
